How Much is Too Much?

That's the big question, isn't it? But it has a simple answer: no one knows. Even one drink might cause an alcohol-related disability.

Now a lot of people - including some medical professionals - think that's a bit extreme. They say one drink every now and then won't hurt. They say as long as you drink responsibly and don't overdo it, nothing bad will happen.

That's just not true. A woman's age, genetics, stage of pregnancy, her health, the amount and type of alcohol and even nutrition can all be factors that make that one drink the one that causes irreversible damage. The only amount of alcohol that's absolutely safe for pregnant women is absolutely none at all.

And think about this: no one's telling you to stop drinking forever. That's your decision and your right. All you're being asked to do is to take a nine to tenth month break. And when you consider that FASD lasts a lifetime, that's really not that long at all, is it?
